by Shinohara Sairyugyoku, last quarter 19th century, the superstructure with an arrangement of seven drawers with varying types of metal handles, including two cast as auspicious bats, around twin sliding panel doors, each with relief moulded and polychrome figural scenes of groups of Rakan (Arhats), a lift out panel front to a further compartment with recessed and applied carved wood landscape, modelled in the round with a figure beneath a tree, the panel reverse with inscribed character signature; the carved hardwood and metal mounted two tier stand with scrollwork galleries, on stylised stop-fluted supports to cabriole legs with ball and claw feet
