A COLONIAL SOFA TABLE, CIRCA 1820

of Sheraton design, the rectangular flap top with rounded corners and inlaid with contrasting banding edged with pale wood and ebony stringing, over three frieze drawers and opposing simulated drawers, apparently retaining the original turned button handle and with exotic wood linings, on panelled rectangular standard end supports and four downswept sabre legs terminating in brass toe caps and castors, the underside of two of the drawers bearing Chinese characters in black ink
