The central elongated rectangular plaque features four insects, two flies flanking two elaborate butterflies, each of the insects consist of a number of gemstones including banded agate, agate, lapis lazuli and malachite, all enclosed with an elaborate frame of gold with a rococo style edging at the cardinal points, fitted to reverse with double finger rings.
