Estimate: £200 - £400
Bidding ended. Lot is unsold.
circa 1770, with adaptions, the caddy top with applied Bacchic mask mount, the front with two rows of two short drawers, each with gilt tooled leather fascia and ormolu handle, the serpentine sides with scrolling acanthus cast mounts,
Height 50cm
Width 74cm
Depth 22cm

The item bears the usual minor scuffs and knocks, overall consistent with age and use. there is a more significant chip to the top right corner. Minor losses to veneer in places. it is probable that the cartonnier was originally the upper section of a larger piece of furniture, probably a french writing table or desk.
