the bow backed superstructure with an arrangement of pigeonholes and drawers, flanked by posting slots  and serpentine sides, the inset leather writing surface above twin frieze drawers; on straight, tapering legs to spade feet; decorated overall with foliate sprigs and sprays, Provenance: The collection of the late Ian Askew.

The item bears the usual minor scuffs and knocks, overall consistent with age and use. The leather is later replaced and indeed the whole desk has the feel of having been completely reconditioned. it is very 'clean'. Minor areas of replacement veneers. A few very minor old closed splits, but ooverall, very good condition. The back ois decorated.
