Estimate: £2,000 - £4,000
Hammer price: £10,000
Bidding ended. Lot has been sold.

in the manner of Thomas Johnson, modelled as opposing, each with a floral sprig above a pagoda top, with columnar supports descending to rocaille mouldings and further foliate entwined columns, each with twin metal leaf clad sockets issuing on scrolling branches, above further conforming mouldings, 117cm high x 40cm wide x 24cm protuberance

Both items bear the usual minor knocks and scuffs overall consistent with age and use.

The gilding appears to be original and is bright, although worn in places overall, mainly to exposed extremities. Small areas of gilding and composition are missing from the arms.

The mirror plates are replaced. One sconce is missing its socket.

There is a split to a cross-beam near the bottom of one of the examples. This is perfectly stable with no movement.
