circa 1815, previously the caddy top of a teapoy, of sarcophagus form, the hinged cover with confronting scrolling acanthus rising to a stylised foliate carved ridge; the front, back and sides relief carved with anthemia and further schematic scrolling foliate motifs overall, 21cm high x 49cm wide x 36cm deep 

Fine country house example, Some light surface scratches and wear to exterior, interior has been relined and showing similar wear. Gouging to inside, probably where previous fittings were. The back edge of the lid has some losses, and there is some beading missing to base.
