The Carron Iron Company was established by John Roebuck, Samuel Garbett and William Cadell in 1759 at Falkirk. It specialised in stoves and fire surrounds to the designs of the Adam brothers and Haworth brothers. probably designed by Robert Adam, third quarter 19th century, the finial above a lanceolate leaf cast dome with lobed edging, with waisted neck above twin mask handles at the guilloche cast shoulder, the ovoid body with beaded band and lanceolate leaf cast underside to a circular beaded edged foot; on an associated black painted wood plinth, hwight of urn 98cm, height overall 187cm
