The chairs are all in basically good order, with just the usual very minor knocks and scuffs overall consistent with age and use. The fabric coverings are a little dirty in places. The chairs are of a good weight and colour. Specifically, one chair is resorted at each side of the top rail and also has two restored splits to the front legs, all being perfectly stable. One chair has a re-tipped back leg, another has a circa 10cm loss to the top of one Chamfered leg. Two chairs have pegged restoration to the lower back leg and stretcher. It is important to understand that Mr Evetts has used this composed set of chairs as an academic illustration of very minor variations in apparently otherwise identical chairs which are probably all by the same maker. In this group of chairs which are effectively all the same pattern, there are tiny, and on first viewing, unapparent differences. Eight of the chairs are basically identical, but four of them have a more three dimensional treatment to the carved backsplats. There are two more pairs, a set of three and a single, all of which vary in very small ways. Please see the illustrations. The front edges of the seats vary in width, from 53 to 56cm.
