A REGENCY OR GEORGE IV MAHOGANY DRESSING TABLE, ATTRIBUTABLE TO GILLOWS,

Note: Strong comparisons can be drawn with the dressing table in lot 584 above, stamped Gillows. The example here is concave fronted, but the arrangement of the drawers around a shallow kneehole arch, and flanked to each side by panels is virtually identical -obvious similarities are clear in the legs too

circa 1820, with three-quarter gallery above a concave front with five drawers arranged around the kneehole, on knop turned, waisted and reeded legs to brass caps and castors, 84cm high x 108cm wide x 58cm deep 

The item bears the usual knocks and scuffs overall consistent with age and use. The top has various ring stains as well as a significant amount of old surface scratching. The back, sides and legs are all dry and sun faded. The gilding is worn.
