Royal Jamaica cigars were first crafted in 1929, having achieved worldwide fame, winners of three gold medals - in the Monde World Competition for “The finest hand made cigars”. Notable smokers included Sir Winston Churchill and the late HRH Prince of Wales.
From what we know Royal Jamaica Cigar Company, custom made and personalised, specifically stamped humidors and commercial boxes with specially selected cigar leaf selections and packed them for Royal family members, distinguished figures, private individuals and tobacco merchants such as Alfred Dunhill Ltd - tobacco division.
We believe this humidor was one of these examples made in the first half of 1930’s belonging to the late HRH Prince of Wales. The contents of this humidor were specially selected and packed for the late HRH Prince of Wales - Duke of Windsor, formerly King Edward Viii as detailed on the stamp within the humidor.
It is most likely this humidor would have been used and handled on a daily basis by the late HRH Prince of Wales who had a passion for cigars before becoming King Edward Viii in January 1936 following the death of his father King George V.
