The younger brother of the more famous Stanley Spencer, Gilbert Spencer was a British painter of portraits, figure compositions and mural decorations, but primarily landscapes, focusing his attention on vistas of Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Dorset and the Lake District.

Yellowing varnish in places, would benefit from a light clean, under glass and not examined out of the frame.
