Thomas Hanley was born in Hartlepool in 1868, he attested at Newcastle age19 in 1887. He gave his occupation as Labourer. He saw service in South Africa with the 1st Bn and was awarded the QSA. He was subsequently imprisoned for 84 days after a court-martial.
