Henry Dixon Young was born in South Shields in 1887. 

The 1891 census shows that he was living at 52 Brodwick Street, South Shields; in the 1901 census, he was living at 76 Heron Street, South Shields. The 1911 census finds him working as a Bread and Pastry Baker, living at 23 Eaglesfield Road South Shields.

 

Young served in India; medal index card gives his disembarkation date as 21st August 1915. 

 

Also awarded the Indian General Service Medal with bar Afghanistan North West Frontier 1919.

 

IGS and LSGC are both confirmed on the medal index card. LSGC being a 1927 award.

The group comes with a cased medal engraved to Bds Young H.
