MEMORIAL PLAQUE TO 2ND LIEUT MOXLY BEDFORDSHIRE REGT
With prayer book.
John Hewitt Sutton Moxly was born in Woolwich, Kent on December 27th 1891.

He was educated at Victoria College, Jersey, where he won the gold medal for classics and was head of his school. He won a King Charles I scholarship at Oxford University and had served in the OTC there. Moxly was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the 4th Bn Bedfordshire Regiment on August 21st 1914.
Moxly landed in France on January 2nd 1915, and was sadly killed in action on March 12th 1915,…

A MEMORIAL PLAQUE TO WILLIAM SHAKES 13TH LONDON REGT – KENSINGTON BATTALION.
William Shakes lived in Paddington and enlisted in Kensington, joining the 13th Bn London Regiment.

He landed on the Western Front on November 3rd 1914 and was thus entitled to a 1914 Star Trio. He sadly died of wounds on January 22nd 1915, and was laid to rest in Estaires Communal Cemetery.

MEMORIAL PLAQUE TO SUB LIEUTENANT ERNEST EDWARD WICKS RND
Ernest Edward Wicks was born in Oxford on November 22nd 1893. He was commissioned as a Temporary Sub Lieutenant on January 11th 1916. On November 30th 1916, he was drafted to Nelson Bn and went to France on December 14th 1916. He was invalided to England in February 1917, suffering from Trench Fever. He then served as a training officer mainly in bombing until April 12th 1918, when he was drafted to Hawke Bn.
He arrived back in France on April 16th 1918. He was sadly killed in action on September 3rd 1918.

MEMORIAL PLAQUE TO MONTAGUE WYNDHAM HAROLD SARGENT, DORSET REGIMENT
Montague Wyndham Harold Sargent was born in January 1898 in Dorchester. At the time of the 1911 census, Harold was living with his family at 12 Harvey's Buildings, Dorchester. He was still attending school, with a part-time job as a Drapers Errand Boy. He enlisted into the 5th Bn of the Dorset Regiment, his service number being 17623. He sadly died of wounds on September 6th, aged 19. He was laid to rest in Boulogne Eastern Cemetery.
His headstone bears the inscription 'IN EVER LOVING MEMORY OF OUR DEAR HAROLD FROM HIS SORROWING…

A MEMORIAL PLAQUE TO STOKER HENRY DAVID SNELL - KIA HMS WEYMOUTH - BATTLE OF DURAZZO
Henry David Snell was born in Ontario, Canada; in 1896, he earned his living as a Farmer, which is noted on his service papers; however, it looks like he was born in London.

Snell joined the Royal Navy on February 29th 1916, as a Stoker. He was sadly killed in action on October 2nd 1918, while serving on HMS Weymouth at the Battle of Durazzo.

A RARE WWI TANK CREW SPLATTER MASK
the upper section of metal construction covered with leather, the eye apertures pierced with horizontal vision slits, the lower section of chain mail with chamois leather lining.

These masks were introduced in 1917 to protect tank crews from small particles of metal and lead fragments flying across the inside of the tank when it came under fire in battles.
