A POLYCHROME-DECORATED CARVED LIMEWOOD FIGURE OF A POPE Probably late 16th century,

With crimson cope and dark green and gilt-trimmed cassock, wearing a crimson and gilt papal tiara, holding the Bible in his left hand, his right hand previously grasping a papal ferula, on a hexagonal moulded plinth; redecorated with several layers of earlier decoration, 75cm high

Missing its papal ferula. Some later paint has possibly been added. His red crimson has been re-attached in parts. Other parts of splitting. Wear consistent with age. There are old inactive worm holes on the reverse.
