AN OAK AND BRASS HUNTING CROP RACK

By Callow & Son, 19th / 20th century, with six turned thong pegs, and six brass pegs, the reverse branded 'CALLOW & SON / WHIP MAKERS / PARK LANE', 22.5 cm x 61 cm

Thomas Callow was founded in 1841 and retailed high quality hunting paraphernalia from 16 Mount Street and Park Lane. By 1852 they became T. Callow & Son and in 1925 Oscar Callow.

There are the inevitable minor dents, marks scratches and shrinkage cracks due to age and use. There are variations in the style and size of wooden turned thong pegs, suggesting at least one or more are replaced. The lower left corner has been eaten by common furniture beetle / woodworm.
