This book case has a strong appearance. There are however a number of surface marks and scratches, appropriate to its age and use. They handles have been replaced at some stage, and they have screwed through the baize interior. The baize itself is worn and deteriorated, it would benefit from being relined. There are losses apparent to the veneer, and missing sections of moulding. This is evident largely at the corners/joins, from where the bookcase has been taken appart and refit. One of the golden balls form the top is detached but present. There have been later fitments added, including wiring for an alarm. There is evidence of some repairs. There are also splits to the panelleing of some drawers and doors. Knocks and scratches have occured around the pedestal base. Some of the inlay is warping in small places. There are further images available if viewing is impossible. The bookcase has a good colour and stands well.
