AN OYSTER-VENEERED WALNUT AND PRINCESWOOD CHEST-ON-STAND

19th century, with a rectangular cornice above two short drawers, and two doors, enclosing a fitted interior, the central door of the interior enclosing a mirrored recess, on a stand with a single drawer, and turned and twisted legs, on ball feet, 171cm high x 113cm wide x 53cm deep

Bidding ended. Lot has been sold.

Evidence of old worm. Chips and losses to the veneer. Handles and escutcheons replaced, one escutcheon damaged. The stand associated. The joins of the legs on the stand become detached when moved. Wear around the feet and the stretchers. Discolouration/drying to the veneers, as well as splits apparent. Veneers missing to the interior. The cornice is associated as well. Viewing advised.  Central architectural interior a later addiditon. It is likely this piece is made up from a number of different pieces of furniture. Structurally there is movement.
