A GEORGE I WALNUT CHEST OF DRAWERS

18th century and later, possibly Scottish, the herringbone banded top over a series of graduating drawers, on shaped bracket feet, 96cm high x 104cm wide x 57cm deep

The chest of drawers is in fair condition, displaying wear and marks commensurate with its ages. There are areas of veneer that are, lifting, missing or damaged, and the veneer on the top surface has begun to split in places with two obvious repairs to the veneer in both front corners, the drawer fronts also display noticeable veneer repairs. The top surface displays marking, scratching and abrasions, and the front edge has several splits. There are areas of missing or damaged moulding around the drawer fronts,, along with general knocks and scuffing. The handles appear to be later replacements, as do the locks and escutcheons.
