This painting is well executed and broadly is in fair condition.
The painted canvas has been backed onto a plain stretchered canvas.
The main fault is a tear (2cm high x 1.5cm wide) to the canvas at the top left corner - the work has rubbed up against the gilt inner slip and lifted the corner of the painted canvas from the plain canvas below.
The painting is clearly signed and dated.
The gilt inner slip is chipped to upper right margin and the leaf moulded frame is damaged in places, with a large piece missing to bottom right corner.
Finally, there is a handwritten label titled in French verso which reads 'Cafe du Bazaar des Tapis au Caire'.
