Albion
Hudson was born in Knaresborough, near Harrogate, on the 9th of February 1919.
He served in the Royal Airforce from the 21st of November 1941 until the 6th of
August 1946.
He
qualified as a Wireless Operator / Air gunner on the 26th of August 1943 and as
a Navigator on the 27th of October 1943.
Hudsons'
operational flying started on the 21st February 1945 with 144 Squadron. At that
time, the Squadron was tasked with attacking shipping and in a flak suppression
role. Hudson would take part in fifteen operational sorties. On his sixth op on
the 24th March 1945 his aircraft was hit by flak.
Interestingly
his final two ops were after the war. On the 12th of May 1945, he was part of a convoy escort covering Naval
ships transporting the Crown Prince of Norway and cabinet members to Oslo. His final op was searching for a missing Naval
vessel on the 15th of May 1945.
Albion
Hudson passed away in 2004.
