A CHINESE SOAPSTONE SEAL

carved with a double-headed dragon, on a square plinth, the underside carved "In Jen Ji Zhan" (seal of In Jen), 8cm high x 6cm wide

Provenance: A French private collection and thence by descent.

The imprint of this seal appears to correspond directly with the one illustrated in the Qing dai di hou xi yin pu, "The imperial seals of Qing dynasty emperors and empresses" vol. 4, concerning the seals of the emperor Yongzheng.

Appears in very good overall condition. There are some surface marks consistent with age and minor wear to the bottom corners and inclusions to areas of the stone. Otherwise no obvious signs of damage or restoration (please see additional images)
