of large size, decorated with stylised 'wheel' flowerheads and scrolling leafy tendrils, with Qianlong seal mark, 26cm diam. x 16.5cm high

Provenance: The Collection of Aubrey Ellwood Esq and acquired by him in the 1930s. Inherited from him by the vendor’s mother of Sherborne, Dorset.

The large size and the Kangxi style blue and white decoration of this cushion-shaped box are atypical. The large Qianlong seal mark on the base is usually associated with Imperial porcelains produced during the early part of the Emperor’s reign. 

Appears unblemished, some very minor wear to the rim of lid and rim of the bowl.
