This chest on chest has shrinkage splits to sides and has had some modifications/restorations over time.

With the black chinoiserie finish, it is difficult to be exact about originality.

Presumably the upper section originally featured doors and the sides now have rounded mouldings to the front edges, presumably to cover the former hinge marks.

Whilst most of the drawers in the upper section have rounded top edge drawer sides, the upper and lower large drawers have flat top edge drawer sides.

The base features a different style of handle to the upper section. The handles appear old since the nuts and bolts to reverse are hand cut and off-centre.

Top section is 89cm high

Base is 80cm high
