The campaign chest is in fairly condition, with some wear and marking commensurate with its age and use. There are areas of scuffing and chipping to the surface, and the feet in particular are worn. All drawers, both internal and external, are present and are complete with original handles, locks and one key; the bottom drawer appears to have dropped slightly as it is stiff to open and close. It should be noted that the bottom handle on the right hand side of the chest is present and needs reattaching. There are no obvious signs of repair, and the piece remains sturdy and functional, with the top and bottom sections fitting snugly together. The leather inset is in good condition, with some wear to the edges and surface, and slight losses to the gilt tooling.
