oil on canvas, depicted seated holding a map of the southern coast of Australia, with instruments to the foreground, a tall ship visible in the distance, 79cm x 62cm in am impressive gilt frme with label verso for H. Hare, Carvers & Gilders, Scarborough. Haydon Hare was an uncle of the renowned Stamford Arts and crafts designer and enameller, Nelson Ethelred Dawson.
