A NORTH EUROPEAN OAK MARRIAGE-BOX

17th century, with a sloping hinged lid carved with scrolling foliage, the central panel with a man and a woman beside a laurel wreath with cypher 'CTH' / Ipse', the side panels with birds among vines, the rear panel with two scenes depicting the Temptation of Eve, and The Annunciation, with traces of blue and red decoration to the interior; restorations; 15 cm. high; 27 cm. wide; 17. cm. deep

The central panel on the lid with pin holes around the edge, probably fixing holes for a padded pin cushion. There is a chip to the rear left corner of the plinth. A crack in the rear panel. Lacking lock. A till at the rear edge of the interior missing.
