A CAMEL TROPHY RIBTEC 655 EDITION

This RIB competed in the unique Camel Trophy 2000: an Orienteering Expedition Adventure based around the South Pacific Islands of Tonga and Samoa. Prepared by the Ribtec company in Southampton, these RIBs were the largest order of rigid inflatable boats ever made in England.

Estimate: £12,000 - £15,000
Hammer price: £11,000
Bidding ended. Lot has been sold.

The control panel has been equipped with the most diverse, and recent, instruments, which includes a GPS, compasses (electronic and analog), UHF radio and depth sound. In addition to these, other more "common" instruments helped participants during the Tonga / Samoa route: speedometer, rev counter, battery isolation buttons, clock, fuel gauges in each tank, etc.

The engine chosen to power the RIBs was the Honda BF130 XD, an off-board engine with 130 horsepower. Being one of the quietest and most economical engines on the market, in its size, it was the ideal partner for the Ribtec 655.

This boat has undergone a serious amount of refurbishment over the last few years including wiring loom, new tube, refurbished stainless steel frame, navigation and lighting including spot-lights, original console dials and navigation systems; self-righting balloon; 3 x fuel tanks and gauges; a Honda P130 engine fitted has recently been serviced.

Included with the RIB is some of the original expedition equipment, including surf ski, water skis and wakeboard; the original navigation maps for Tonga and Samoa; original Camel trophy dry bags; life jackets and waterproofs. Also with trailer.
