Alfred
Jackson was born in Middleton, Kettering, Northamptonshire in 1872. He attested
at Northampton on 21st September 1890, aged 18. In civilian life, he had been a
Riveter.
Interestingly
he was awarded a 'Telegraphy Certificate' on 11th October 1895. It seems he was
attached to the 'Government Telegraph Department' in India.
He
went on to serve in the Boer War with the roll stating he was invalided.
Jackson was discharged on 18th September 1902, having served in South Africa
for over two years.
The
Medals and clasps are all confirmed.
