Harold
Wray was born in Little Ouseburn, Yorkshire, in 1891. At the time of the 1911
census, he was living in Green Hammerton and was a footman at Kirk Hammerton
Hall.
Harold
served with the 2nd west Yorkshire Regiment during the Great War. He was awarded
the Military Medal, announced in the London Gazette on 12th July 1918. Harold
was transferred to the Labour Corp, having received a GSW to the right
foot.
He was discharged on 26th September 1919. Harold may have been wounded
while winning the MM, but this can't be confirmed.
