William Pullin was born in Kings Norton, Worcestershire, in 1881. In civilian life, he was a Plumber, a job which he was to carry on when he joined the Royal Navy on the 28th of May 1902. 

 

He was at the Battle of Jutland on HMS Comus and was awarded the LSGC in 1917. He survived the war and was discharged in 1922.
