A CHINESE EXPORT LACQUER COFFER
probably early Qing, with a rectangular lid and panels decorated in polychrome on a red ground with pagodas and other buildings in extensive river landscapes, the borders with floral sprays on a black ground, on a later ebonised stand with swept (feet) 89cm high x 92cm wide x 62cm wide.
Provenance: The collection of the late Anthony du Boulay FSA (1929-2022), acquired in 1954 for six guineas.
