probably Qing, with a square body carved with panels of pine trees, flowering plants sprouting from rockwork and boughs of prunus blossom with inverted corners and shaped block feet, the base with an old collection label and another for "S. Berstein & Co. Collection, San Francisco", 16.6cm high x 13.8cm wide x 13.8cm long

Provenance: The collection S. Bernstein & Co., San Francisco,
Acquired in Chicago in the 1990's by the grandfather of the present owner, and thence by descent.

There is no apparent damage or restoration, but there are natural imperfections in the stone. Some extremities of the fine carving are slightly rough to the touch which may indicate minor losses, but these are not immediately visible to the naked eye. The stone of even colour with a lustrous polish.
