Estimate: £200 - £400
Bidding ended. Lot is unsold.

Note: This screen was discovered in a 'junk shop' in the 1940's by the vendor's father. At the time the screen contained a worn Chinese silk tapestry. When the tapestry was removed for repair, it was discovered that behind the panel, amongst cuttings of Chinese newspaper, this ancestor portrait was buried. The portrait has since been mounted, framed, and kept together with the screen.

The stand is loose to the legs. There are old splits and surface wear.

There is some paint loss and wear to the silk, small areas of damage notably towards the edges.
