The blue butterfly is in good condition, with a functioning pin and clasp. There is no discolouration to the metal, the pin being of rose colour and the butterfly yellow in colour - there is a stock/cataloguing number scratched on to the reverse of the brooch. The enamel is largely in good condition, notably with a small area of loss to the bottom of the upper right wing (facing). The amethysts and seed pearl appear to be securely set.

The pink butterfly is in good condition, with a functioning pin and clasp. There is no discolouration to the metal, the pin being of rose colour and the butterfly yellow in colour - this butterfly is free from any numbering. The enamel is largely in good condition, notably with a small area of loss/damage to the top of the thorax and dark pink line at the edge of the pearl's setting on the upper right wing (facing). The amethysts and seed pearl appear to be securely set.

The connector chain appears to be in good condition with no obvious significant thinning to the links, some slight discolouration is apparent.

The presentation case is in good condition, with no significant losses or damage to the leather (some scratching/wear apparent). The interior appears to be clean, though there is sticky residue/staining from an old label to the top of the silk. The hinges function well, however the catch does not engage securely.
