A GOLD COLOURED METAL, EMERALD AND ENAMELLED NECKLACE

of 18th Century Continental design, decorated in cream and green enamel with spotted and scrolled ornament, the pendant with baguette cut emerald approx 0.5ct surrounded by eight smaller stones, suspended from a necklace formed of sixteen elongated links and sixteen emeralds each approx 0.3ct, together with a matching brooch (2)

The brooch is in good condition, there is some evidence of wear commensurate with use. There is some chipping/ wear to the enamel with a small amount of minor crazing in places. All of the emeralds are present, the stones are of mixed colour, being fairly pale with numerous inclusions and some nibbling. The pin is present and is fairly tightly hinged, there is some discolouration to the metal on the reverse of the brooch. The face of the brooch measures approximately 3x3cm and has a gross weight of c. 6.3g.

The necklace is in good condition, there is some evidence of wear commensurate with age. There is some chipping/wear to the enamel with some cracking/crazing apparent. All of the emeralds are present, the stones are of mixed colour, being generally fairly pale and displaying inclusions and some nibbling. The pendant part of the necklace is detachable, the clasp functions and clips securely close, there is some discolouration to the metal on the reverse of the necklace. The necklace measures approximately 41cm and has a gross weight of c. 31g.
