Provenance: Belonged to the Late Timothy Green, who was Chief Reporter in the London Bureau of Time Life, where he met his wife who gave him his first assignment. He was appointed Editor of the Illustrated London News whilst still in his twenties,  but then went on to forge a successful freelance career as a writer of a dozen books including "The World of Gold" and its many updates. He was a consultant and export on global gold business. He was given the Rolex during a reporting trip to the Gulf in 1968 by a Sheik in the middle of the desert treating his visitors to gifts and hospitality. That year he published "The World of Gold" just as the gold price was floated free, a pivotal moment in the global trade.
