The ring is in good condition, though does display some wear commensurate with age and use. The engraved shank displays some losses to the engraving and there is evidence of resizing work, it does not appear to have significantly thinned anywhere and seems to be securely joined to the ring head. The closed back ring head displays some slight discolouration to the metal on the underside (likely case hardening), but there is no evidence of significant denting or repair work.  The setting appears to be free from significant wear and all diamonds are present. It is likely that at least one stone is a later replacement and possible that some claws may benefit from attention, The principal amethyst displays some slight abrasion to the facets in places, there is surface scratching to the table and some chipping/nibbling visible to the top of the girdle. It appears to be securely set, though the foiling has likely degraded over time. The ring head measures approximately 9x9mm and has a gross weight of c. 3.8g
