A DERBY WHITE BISCUIT GROUP OF "LES BUVEURS DE LAIT"

probably English, circa 1780, after the Sèvres original modelled by Falconet in 1759, based on a drawing by Francois Boucher, circa 1735, a boy seated on rockwork holding a shallow pan of milk which is being spilt by a smaller boy reaching up on his right hand side, 15.5cm high

Literature: The original Sèvres group is approximately 17.5cm high, an example of which is in the Musée des Arts Decoratifs and is illustrated in «Falconet à Sèvres» the Exhibition at the Musée National Ceramique, November 2001 - February 2002.

In good overall condition. There are some firing cracks, most significantly to the base as to be expected. There is a breakage to the lid of the box, where a small piece of the lid is missing and another bit has been re-glued (please see additional images)
