A RARE ARITA GILT-METAL MOUNTED FAMILLE VERTE STYLE TEAPOT
late 17th – early 18th century, the ovoid body with two inset heart-shaped relief-decorated cavities, one showing a lion beside flowers, the other with flowers among rocks, surrounded by leafy tendrils, the shoulder with a foliate diaper band, the foot painted to suggest a lotus flower, flanked by a loop handle and bamboo-form spout; the cover, handle and spout with Dutch gilt-metal mounts, each with a figural finial and joined by a chain, 15.9cm long
