Walter Bassett was born in Heyford, Northamptonshire, in 1893. He was a farm labour in civilian life before joining up.
Bidding ended. Lot is unsold.
He first served
with the East Yorkshire Regiment before transferring to the 7th Bn Lincolnshire
Regiment. It was with the latter that he was killed in action on the 22nd of
April 1918. Walter is buried in Varennes Military Cemetery.
