AN OUTSTANDING EXAMPLE OF AN 1854 MINIE RIFLE

attributed to the Thin Red Line .702 calibre rifle.

The 93rd being the Sutherland Highlanders, who on the 25th of October 1854 at Baklava, before the large battle, formed the ‘Thin Red Line’ and stood against the superior Russian forces who had been sent to attack. This rifle could very likely have been facing the Russians as part of the Thin Red Line. A rare, outstanding and historically important rifle

This example was made in 1854, it has the VR crown and all the correct tower proof marks. The barrel retains a good amount of original finish, the sight is able to be set. The wood is in great condition, free from any areas of damage, just the normal expected wear.

The lock is tight at full and half cock and can be dry fired, the ram rod is present and the leather sling.

What makes this gun particularly nice is the removable cap in the end of the barrel, stamped 93D 77.
