A LARGE FRENCH EBONISED BREAKFRONT BOOKCASE

c.1890, with flared moulded cornice and fluted pilasters, the base enclosed by two pairs of fielded panelled doors, 230cm high x 280cm wide x 43cm deep

Provenance: By repute formerly owned by musician Nick Cave, purchased from his Brighton home, now part of the residual contents of Claveys Farmhouse, Mells Green, Somerset.

There are six shelves present with the bookcase. No additional cupboard shelves present. 

The base wood appears to be oak. The upper section and the lower section detach. 

There is an element of moulding missing from the left side of the pediment, not present with the bookcase. The right side piece also appears loose. There is a length of moulding missing from the left side of the base. There are surface marks, small chips and scratches consistent with age and use. Chips to the central column of the base and door knobs notably. Shelves are scratched and worn in some areas.
