an impressive late 19th Century silver plated salver, boldly cast in relief with face masks and putti, the later centre engraved 'Alexander A. Apcar Jr. Xmas 1922', 62cm diameter x 8cm high
Note: Apcar Alexander Apcar Snr (1851-1913) was prolific in the horse racing world, a great rival of Lord William Beresford and was president of the Calcutta Turf Club. A typed label to the underside of this salver indicates that The Apcar Plate was a horse race run on 26th December 1922.
