19th/20th century, the moulded rectangular top over two panelled cupboards, both opening to vacant interiors, the front apparently decorated with offerings to Mahakala, a wrathful deity and protector of Buddha's teaching's, on block legs, 131cm high x 87cm wide x 51cm deep

Note: Torgam were largely found in monasteries and the private homes of the wealthy. They were used to house torma, or offering sculptures. Most Torgam are decorated with wrathful deities and humans, or human organs, as offerings to the gods. This is to convey the rejuvenation of life through rebirth.
