Note: The portrait depicts Lord Dinorben, 1st Baron Dinorben of Kinmel Hall. Born William Lewis Hughes in 1767, he was the son of the Rev Edward Hughes and Mary Lewis, who had inherited the hugely valuable Parys copper mine in Anglesey. The income from the mine was used to build the vast new hall in Kinmel Park. William Lewis Hughes was created Baron Dinorben in 1831. One of his eleven children, Gwen, married Sir Arundell Neave, 4th baronet, of Dagnam Park Essex. This portrait, and that in lot 206, were both hung at Dagnam. The 1st Baron of Dinorben died in 1852 and the title passed to his son, after his sons early death the title then became extinct.
