Note: Tom Allen was Nelson’s “man-servant’’ who was also born at Burnham Thorpe. He died at Greenwich Hospital on Nov 23rd 1838. The front leaf of the memorial features a framed silhouette illustration of Allen, from an engraving which was apparently produced to raise funds for his widow.
