Provenance: The Estate of the late Roger Peers (1932-2023), Curator of the Dorset County Museum between 1959 and 1992

Dora Thacher Clarke (later Dora Middleton) was a British sculptor and wood carver who also wrote about, and promoted African art. Sculptures by Clarke are held in various museums, including the Ashmolean Museum which also holds a 1936 portrait of her by Orovida Camille Pissarro.
