A MODEL 1860 US LIGHT CAVALRY SABRE
produced by Ames of Chicopee, Massachusetts and stamped as such on the ricasso, the sword dated 1865, proof mark of CWC on the pommel, brass hilt which consists of three rings, the leather grip is worn, and the wire is missing, the scabbard is steel and shows signs of pitting, its use is consistent with age, the blade 35" long, and has been kept oiled, in good condition, a nice late Civil War example
